The Valeda light delivery system is the first treatment approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the USA for dry age-related macular degeneration using Photobiomodulation.

Valeda is the first approved treatment for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using photobiomodulation (PBM). Valeda uses a multi-wavelength approach to stimulate critical targets of cellular function, leading to improved energy production within the mitochondria.

AMD is the leading cause of blindness in adults over 65. Approximately 90% of patients with AMD have the dry form, and 10% have the wet form.

LumiThera is at the forefront of the development of PBM treatments for patients with AMD and other degenerative ocular diseases.

Indications for Use:  The indicated use is for treatment of ocular damage and disease using photobiomodulation, including inhibition of inflammatory mediators, oedema or drusen deposition, improvement of wound healing following ocular trauma or surgery, and increase in visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in patients with degenerative diseases such as dry age-related macular degeneration.

Solix OCT Optovue

SOLIX OCT, from the manufacturer Optovue, is a modern, state-of-the-art OCT. Combining OCT with wide-field OCT angiography, it is a powerful clinical tool that is transforming the way ophthalmological diseases are diagnosed – from the anterior part of the eye to the choroidal layer at the back – allowing the doctor to tailor a personalised approach to care.  

With SOLIX, the doctor can:

1. Visualise the vitreous all the way to the back of the choroid, acquiring new information beyond the traditional measurements, over an area larger than 6x6mm.

2. Monitor and estimate the rate of change of the RNFL and the thickness of the ganglion cell complex (GCC).

3. Quantitatively evaluate the anterior part of the eye, extending the clinical utility of an OCT system.

With its OCT Angiography (OCTA) function, the system brings valuable new information to clinical practice through non-invasive imaging of the retinal and choroidal vascular structures.   

1. With this machine the doctor can visualise vascular structures non-invasively, in seconds.
