Dr. Nikolaos Vryonis MD, PhD, FEBO
Dr. Nikolaos Vryonis is an Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialised in the UK in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology.
- He trained in Ophthalmology at Attikon University Hospital in Athens from 2007 to 2011 and obtained his PhD from the University of Athens.
- In 2012 he obtained the European Diploma in Ophthalmology (FEBO) at the European Board of Ophthalmology examinations held in Paris.
- In 2012 he moved to the UK, where he specialised in Cataract and Emergency Ophthalmology at Bristol Eye Hospital.
- From 2013 to 2015 he specialised in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at St Thomas’ Hospital in London under the supervision of Professor C. Hammond.
- He continued his specialisation in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds from 2015 to 2016 under the supervision of Consultant Mr. Ian Simmons.
- He worked as a Paediatric Ophthalmology Substantive Consultant from 2016 to 2020 at the internationally renowned Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
- Since 2020 he has been working as a Locum Consultant in the Paediatric Ophthalmology, Adult Strabismus and Neuro-ophthalmology departments at Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital.
After 10 years of experience working in the UK, Dr. N. Vryonis envisioned and created one of the most complete and technologically advanced eye clinics in Greece: the Athens EyeCare Clinic.
