Eleni Rapti
Dr. Eleni Rapti, MD, MSc
Dr. Eleni Rapti is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with experience in modern diagnostic and interventional ophthalmology. She has a particular clinical interest in cataract surgery, dry eye disease (including IPL therapy), as well as eyelid and lacrimal system disorders and in retinal diseases (especially age-related macular degeneration).
- She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Plovdiv (English-taught program) in 2016. During her studies, she participated in the Erasmus program at San Pablo CEU University in Madrid, gaining valuable international academic experience.
- She holds a Master of Science (MSc) with distinction from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, focusing on drug development, with particular research interest in age-related macular degeneration and its therapeutic management.
- Rapti began her specialty training in Ophthalmology in 2017 at the General Panarcadian Hospital of Tripoli “Evangelistria”. From 2018 to 2022, she continued and completed her residency at the General Hospital of Athens “Elpis”, where she received comprehensive training across the full spectrum of ophthalmology.
- During her residency, she also trained at the 1st University Ophthalmology Department of “G. Gennimatas” Hospital in Athens, in the Cornea and Vitreoretinal units, gaining experience in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
- In 2022, she completed her specialty training in Ophthalmology following successful board examinations. She remained at “Elpis” Hospital until 2024, further enhancing her clinical and surgical experience, particularly in cataract surgery, lacrimal surgery (including external dacryocystorhinostomy), and eyelid procedures.
- She has also served as a rural physician in underserved areas, including a regional clinic affiliated with the Megalopolis Health Center, while contributing to the Ophthalmology Department of Tripoli General Hospital, and later at Astros Kynourias Health Center.
- Rapti maintains an active academic profile, with publications in international and Greek peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
- She has participated in volunteer ophthalmic missions with a mobile eye unit in remote Aegean islands under Professor Ioannis Pallikaris, and she currently offers voluntary services with Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the World).
- She is currently affiliated with Athens EyeCare Clinic in Athens, where she maintains an active clinical and surgical practice.
