Dr. Georgiadis Odysseas MD, MD( Res), FEBO

Dr Georgiadis Odysseas is an Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialized in the UK, in Medical Retina, Vitreoretinal Surgery and Cataract.

  • He studied medicine in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he completed his degree in 2007, achieving A’ Honours, and earning the Inauguration Award, for the highest degree grade.
  • He specialised in Ophthalmology in the Pentelis Children Hospital and the Athens Red Cross Hospital (Korgialenio-Mpenakio), between 2011 – 2015.
  • In 2015 he was awarded with the Evangelos Gragoudas Scholarship, to attend the Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology in the USA, by ranking first among Greek candidates in the related exams.
  • In 2015 he obtained the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma (FEBO), achieving the highest excellence, by ranking first in Europe in the related EBOD exams in Paris.
  • In 2015 he moved to the United Kingdom, where he started his Clinical Research Fellowship and his Medical Doctorate degree in Research, in Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology of the University College London.
  • From 2015 he worked as a clinical researcher in the fields of stem cell transplantation, gene therapy, bionic retina and regenerative medicine for retinal and macular diseases. Concurrently, he specialized in medical retina.
    From 2016 to 2018 he worked as a Honorary Research Fellow in the University of Oxford (Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences – NDCN), on the field of gene therapy.
    In 2021, he obtained his doctorate diploma on the transplantation of stem cells for age-related macular degeneration, from the University College London.
  • From 2018 to 2020 he specialized in cataract surgery, in one of the largest eye hospitals in the world, the Moorfields Eye Hospital, in London.
  • From 2020 to 2022 he specialized in vitreoretinal and macular surgery in the university hospitals King’s College H. (London) and Moorfields Eye H. (London). Concurrently, he offered his services as Locum Consultant in the Cataract service of King’s College Hospital.
  • At present, he works as a Vitreoretinal and Cataract Surgeon, in the Ophthalmology Department of the University Hospital “Attikon” (Athens), as a University Scholar, with clinical, research and teaching duties.
    Concurrently, he has a private practice, offering his services in the whole spectrum of Ophthalmology, with special interest in Vitreoretinal surgery, Macular surgery and Cataract.
  • He is a member of the Medical Association of Athens, the Greek Ophthalmological Society, the Greek Vitreoretinal Society, the European Board of Ophthalmology, the British General Medical Council.
    Furthermore, he is one of the founding members of the Greek Moorfields Alumni association (2022), which constitutes a scientific bridge between Moorfields Eye Hospital and its graduates in Greece.
  • Since 2012, he has had a continuous and active participation, as a presenter, in Ophthalmological conferences, both national and international.
  • During his career, he has delivered humanitarian work, as a member of the Greek Doctors of the World (MdM), offering General Medicine and Ophthalmology services, in their Athens Medical Centre and in various missions in Greece and overseas.
